We believe that social engagement, mental and creative stimulation, and physical movement are essential tools for successful living.

- Light and Serious
- Academic

Community
Center members form a close community of friends supporting each other and the wider community around us. Onsite and online courses provide opportunities for members to share ideas, backgrounds, and experiences. Working together on service projects to support the community around us strengthens our own community. The Creative Quilting class has worked together to make over a hundred quilts for organizations supporting people in need, such as Chemo Comfort Quilts and Quilts of Valor.
Lunches
We enjoy onsite lunches with entertainment a couple times each session. Some members bring their own lunches, while most order a hot, catered lunch. All enjoy the time for talk and laughter together.
Recent programs have included poetry reading, a professional saxophonist, a professional pianist, and appreciation events for our sponsoring congregations. We are looking forward to celebrating our 35th anniversary with an old-fashioned bake sale and arts and crafts created and shared by our members.
Special Events
- Bake sale showcasing the varied talents of Shepherd's Center members
- Luncheons honoring sponsoring congregations
- Gala celebrating our 35th Anniversary
- Celebrations of major accomplishments, such as winning the top prize from Midlands Gives or a member reaching her 100th birthday
Trips
Trips will be resumed when health and safety permit.
The Center's Travel Committee plans jaunts to places of interest in South Carolina or close environs, such as the BMW factory in Spartanburg, Brookgreen Gardens on the coast, or Biltmore Estate in Asheville. We've enjoyed theatre at the Peace Center in Greenville and here in town. Trips are made via comfortable motor coaches and we stop at wonderful places to eat.
